Liverpool sits at the northeastern bank of Onondaga Lake. The lake offers many opportunities for recreation for locals. People enjoy walking, inline skating, biking and cross-country skiing along the trail paralleling the lake. Liverpool also offers good dining and interesting shops. Its history of first salt mining and later willow weaving is preserved at the Salt Museum and Willow Museum, respectively. Additionally, Alvord House is a stone farmhouse on the National Register of Historic Places. For a more city-life, residents can travel to nearby Syracuse.
